Pooldown has developed an innovative ice bath system that enables cold therapy for home use. The innovative cooling unit can be used with the existing bathtub and brings the benefits of controlled cryotherapy directly into the home, with the companion app playing a central role: it controls the device via Bluetooth or remotely via the cloud, serves as an interface to health wearables and forms the basis for next-generation personalized cryotherapy coaching.

The companion app not only needed to function perfectly, but also reflect the high-quality user experience of the Pooldown hardware digitally. The focus was on three central requirements:

Reliable control via Bluetooth and Cloud
The app had to enable stable communication with the device - locally via Bluetooth and remotely via the cloud. This is the only way to prepare the ice bath on the way home, for example - for maximum suitability for everyday use.

Foundation for data-based cryotherapyIn future, the app will process health data such as pulse, HRV or body temperature from wearables. On this basis, AI-supported sessions can be created that are individually tailored to goals such as regeneration, performance enhancement or well-being. This required a scalable, future-proof architecture.

Premium UI with fluid animations
‍The app should not only be functional, but also convey the premium feel of the hardware. A clear design and fluid animations were crucial for a coherent overall picture and strong user loyalty.

To take full advantage of native hardware access, we use native SDKs (iOS and Android) seamlessly in the Pooldown Flutter app. This allows us to combine the flexibility of cross-platform development with the performance and stability of native solutions.

In close collaboration with the Pooldown team, the core functions for control, user experience and session management were created - on a solid technical basis that paves the way for future features.
