Purely online mail-order pharmacies such as ShopApotheke or DocMorris do not always ship urgently needed medication quickly enough – this is where local pharmacies with their own apps can stand out.
CardLink already enables convenient and secure redemption of e-prescriptions via an NFC-enabled smartphone and electronic health card. Alternatively, users can scan the DataMatrix code on the printed e-prescription. PoPP is planned as an additional future retrieval route and will be integrated once available.

Complex NFC technology becomes user-friendly
The challenge was to integrate the scanning of health cards in a way that is convenient and intuitive for users. Likewise, the entire transmission process had to be designed to be as simple as possible for pharmacies without compromising data protection and security.
Despite the complexity of NFC technology and the high data protection requirements, CardLink was successfully integrated in a user-friendly and frustration-free manner.

Approach & collaboration
Johnny Bytes applied its many years of cross-platform app development experience to integrate the CardLink SDKs, including FHIR XML processing, into Flutter and provide a seamless experience on Android and iOS. The architecture is prepared for a future PoPP connection, which will be implemented once available.
The integration of backend services with Laravel ensures that the app is scalable and powerful. This enables a smooth user experience and reliable transmission of e-prescriptions to the pharmacies' merchandise management systems.
